Breaking the Barriers

It’s been almost five years since I’ve been BLESSED to be home. I thought Cheryl086HLso much had changed in the time I had been away from my family but as the last days near, I come to find with each passing day there’s a huge swelling of pride, hatred, greed, jealousy and most of all, a world that is radically out of control and passing away just as GOD had said it would.. How do we as a people come together and try to make this world a better place while we’re here? How do we break the barriers to let people of all cultures see GODS LOVE? I hear all the time “Christians are so judgmental.” This breaks my heart because if we dig deep enough and ask the question “Have we really set a wonderful loving example for THE RISEN LORD?” I will be the first to say, like Apostle Paul, I am the least of these things. (Paraphrase) As I shared earlier, everything I had to go through in life, GOD has restored ten fold. I have a loving family which by THE GRACE of GOD are now saved. My mother and I are now closer than we’ve ever been. I also have a loving dad, John who has adopted me as his own. He takes the time to read Scripture with me. It is and honor and privilege to serve them. I also have been BLESSED to have who I call mom number 2, Marlene who loves THE LORD and her husband Larry. I thank THE LORD every day HE has given my mother such a wonderful best friend.

I, also as you know, have a very special friend named Haleh and her family who I love and adore. Haleh is from Iran and her husband is from Afghanastan. We are different in many ways but I love them very much. They have made me the God mother of their children. I was there when Haleh’s father Parviz passed on and they allowed me to come pray with their family.

I’ve been BLESSED to meet people from many different cultures and lifestyles. I’m honored to call them my friends. I also see how love wins out every time, when we take time to love our neighbors. I like what Billy Graham had to say when Oprah Winfrey, a few years back, had him on her show. Oprah had asked Mr. Graham several questions. She then asked him “well what about the homosexuals?
Billy Graham answered “We’re to love them even more.”

How do we love people who hate GOD? How do we love people who do not believe in GOD? How do we love people who love GOD and do not believe in JESUS? How do we love people who want to blame everything on GOD? How do we live in harmony with one another? How do we love people who are our enemies? In the book of Romans from the Bible, I have found this to be one of the greatest lessons of breaking the barriers in learning to love everyone around this world. This is exactly what GOD wants us to do. HE wants us to be like JESUS, to live in harmony with one another. GOD is LOVE.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spirit fervor, serving THE LORD. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with GOD’S people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, LIVE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for GODS wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says THE LORD. On the contrary: If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:9-21 (NIV)

I just recently went to see with my family a woman who I think is one of the greatest singers of all time, Bette Midler. When she sang “GOD is WATCHING us, from a distance.” Bette sang about harmony and GODS LOVE. I cried because so much of what is written in this Scripture above is what she sang. Remember GOD IS WATCHING US and HE LOVES with an EVERLASTING LOVE. Again, as one of my all time favorite Bond Servants of THE RISEN LORD Billy Graham said is “We’re to love’em even more.”
